Still no arrests in shooting death of Pine Hills father of 5

PINE HILLS, Fla. — It's been more than two weeks since a Pine Hills father of five was fatally shot and four other people were injured outside a convenience store.

Channel 9 learned Wednesday that one of the youngest victims involved was just 14 years old.

Baldhead was the nickname of shooting victim, Jeffery Webb, 47, who was killed on Dec. 11 outside the convenience store on North Lane Parkway.

“Everybody who comes up here to this store knows Baldhead,” said friend Sotalicia Garrett.

Friends said Webb had a wife and five children, and was well-liked in the community.

The lack of answers has led to frustration.

“It's driving everybody crazy, and I know it's driving his wife crazy to not know nothing and everybody knows him,” Garrett said.

Garrett is the mother of one of Webb's children. She said a large group was around him at the time of the shooting.

Orlando police said the youngest victim shot was 14 years old. Another victim was 15 years old.

“Everybody is standing here. How could you not know there was a child standing right here? It's just crazy,” said Garrett.

Since Webb’s death along with other shootings in Pine Hills, Orlando police and Orange County deputies have vowed to increase patrols in the area.

Neighbor and friend Decarise Woodard said he welcomes the officers.

“It will keep people from hanging out or doing what they're not supposed to doing in the streets,” said Woodard.

Woodard said that as long as Webb's murder remains unsolved, he's having a hard time trusting anyone.

“We don't know who did it. You could be up here with the person who done it,” said Woodard.

The names and conditions of the four victims who remained hospitalized were not released.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said gangs might be to blame for recent violence in Pine Hills.
