Stolen credit cards found inside abandoned apt.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County detectives are trying to find the person who stole credit cards and personal information from dozens of people, then left it all behind in an Ormond Beach apartment.

Debit cards, theme park passes, stolen driver’s licenses and various IDs were found inside an apartment in the San Marco apartment complex -- left behind by an evicted tenant.

A cleaning crew stumbled upon the dozens pieces of stolen information Wednesday and notified an apartment manager who called authorities.

"That's very scary to hear that, and know it's so close to home," said resident Jeanine Mack.

Deputies also found library cards, a Best Buy rewards card and a document containing personal information for 48 different people. The information included Social Security numbers, birth dates and when the people died.

"That's very disheartening, kind of scary too -- actually -- scary to know that personal information is that easily accessible to someone who is meaning harm to people," Mack said.

Investigators said they were still trying to track down the person behind the theft and the dozens of potential victims.
