Students shot by gunman on FSU campus identified

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Authorities have identified the three people who were shot Thursday when a gunman stormed into a library on the Florida State University campus and opened fire.

The victims were identified as Elijah Velez, 18, who suffered a graze wound and was treated and released; Nathan Scott, 30; and Farhan Ahmed, 21. Scott and Ahmed remain hospitalized.

Authorities said Myron May was armed with a .380 semi-automatic handgun when he opened fire inside the Stozier Library.

While one central Florida student narrowly escaped injury after being shielded by his text books, Valez and Ahmed, both students, and Scott, a library worker, were struck by gunfire.

Scott managed to warn others about the danger.

May was shot and killed outside the library as he exchanged gunfire with police.
