SunRail train kills pedestrian, Longwood police say

LONGWOOD, Fla. — Longwood police are investigating a pedestrian that was struck and killed by a SunRail train Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man was hit by the train at 2:56 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 434. The train stopped shortly after near the intersection of Ronald Regan Boulevard.

The train had 51 passengers on board and two crew members. No injuries were reported, a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Transportation said.

No other details have been released.

SunRail had suspended its operations until Monday due to damage from Hurricane Irma.
