Suspect arrested in north Lakeland CVS robbery

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Police have arrested a man accused of robbing a CVS in north Lakeland over the weekend.

Eric Romaine, 30, was taken into custody after an anonymous tipster called CrimeStoppers, authorities said.

The robbery happened Saturday at the CVS along US 98 north.

Authorities said the suspect pointed a handgun at the pharmacy technicians and demanded prescription drugs. When they did not comply with his demands, the robber fled in a small blue car.

Police said they received a tip that Romaine was behind the crime, and that the victims were able to identify him in a photo lineup.

Romaine was taken into custody at his home. He is charged with armed robbery and burglary with assault. He’s currently being held in the Polk County Jail.

Romaine has been jailed on 10 prior occasions for charges such as battery domestic violence, identity theft and grand theft, among other charges.

In September 2011, Romaine was sentenced to 18 months in state prison. He was released in March.
