Aggravated assault suspect arrested after standoff at Kissimmee motel

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A SWAT team surrounded a motel on US-192 in Osceola County Monday and arrested an aggravated stalking suspect inside, officials said.

Osceola County Sheriff's deputies arrested Brian Campbell, 41, and charged him with aggravated stalking resulting from a domestic incident.

The Amber Inn in Kissimmee was evacuated after authorities said Campbell refused to come out. At about 7 a.m., negotiators were able to talk Campbell out of the room and arrested him.

Guests safely returned to their rooms.

The investigation began at about 1:22 a.m. when deputies took a report of possible threats made by Campbell. The victim indicated she received numerous calls and texts from Campbell.

On May 11, Campbell was released from the Osceola County Jail on a domestic stalking incident, officers said. Since then, he has repeatedly called the victim and left her voice mail messages demanding money and threatening to kill her, authorities said.

Officers said Campbell has a history of domestic violence and has previously been arrested for violating domestic violence injunctions against the victim.

Campbell was taken to the Osceola County Jail.
