Texas woman who was reported missing found safe

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Rescue crews found a Texas woman who was reported missing by her family in Kissimmee, WFTV found out.

Celia Gonzalez, from Texas, left the Kissimmee apartment where she was staying with family to go for a walk, but did not return that evening.

Her family said they were worried because Gonzalez suffers from Alzheimer's disease and does not speak English.

Crews found 69-year-old Gonzalez at Pointe Orlando, 20 miles away from her family's home after a man spotted her walking on South Hiawassee Road.

Deputies believe when she left her home, she walked all after Wednesday and through the night, and when she finally stopped, she was 20 miles away.

"Her family indicated that she was an avid walker, she would sometimes walk 7-10 miles," said Twis Lizasuain with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

After searching on horseback, ATVs and boats in nearby retention ponds, deputies said they are glad she is in good health and is reunited with her family.
