Throwback: Channel 9 anchors, reporters participate in viral ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’

With the news that Pete Frates, the creator of viral Ice Bucket Challenge, died Monday, Channel 9 staff is taking a look back at their participation in the challenge back in 2014.

Multiple reporters and anchors were honored to join the call to pour icy buckets of water over their heads to help raise money – and awareness – for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Ice Bucket Challenge

Yes, I took the challenge. And it really wasn't so bad on the hottest day of the summer! Yahoo! And all the best to the fundraisers at ALS. #IceBucketChallenge #wftv Martie Salt

Is that slime?! WFTV’s Daybreak crew take the #IceBucketChallenge

Is that slime?! After we made a donation to The ALS Association, our #WFTVDaybreak crew took the #IceBucketChallenge issued by Brian Shields, WFTV's 5-year-old godson, a cancer survivor — to a whole other level. This is what happens when you replace Nickelodeon slime with ice and dump it on Brian and Jamie Holmes >> http://at.wftv.com/VIl1B7 Donate to the cause >> http://www.alsa.org/donate/
