Timeline of events leading to toddler's death at Orlando day care, employee's arrest

ORLANDO, Fla. — Deborah Denise St. Charles, 51, is facing a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child after 3-year-old Myles Hill was found dead in a van parked outside an Orlando day care.

Based on information from police and the Florida Department of Children and Families, the following is a timeline of the events that led to her arrest:

Aug. 7

7:42 a.m.  St. Charles picks up Myles at his home and takes day care payment from toddler's great-grandmother. A total of six children were transported in the 2000 Honda minivan to Little Miracles Academy II. The Florida Department of Children and Families said Myles was incorrectly marked as present at Little Miracles Academy II.

9:15 a.m. After dropping off the five other children, St. Charles drives to Little Miracles Academy I and parked the minivan. She answered a phone call as she was collecting her things from the van via the driver-side sliding door. She then locked the van without checking the interior, police say.

6 p.m. St. Charles ends her shift at Little Miracles I.

8:28 p.m. Myles is found and 911 is called by a day care worker who had been asked by the owner to check the van after the toddler's family called to say he was missing and had not been brought home from day care.

8:37 p.m. Myles is pronounced dead.

11:12 p.m. Police interview St. Charles

Aug. 8

8:09 a.m. Police retrieve travel logs from the van and determine they did not comply with state standards because they did not include the driver's signature and the signature of a second day care employee indicating they had performed a sweep of the van.

Aug. 9

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crime scene investigators measure the temperature inside the van throughout the day. It was found that during the simulation, the temperature inside would have topped out at 144 degrees by 3 p.m. Myles' autopsy confirmed that he died of heat exposure. His death was determined to be an accident.

Aug. 10

4:23 p.m. St. Charles is booked into the Orange County Jail on a count of aggravated manslaughter of a child.
