Troopers: Newlyweds who arrived in Florida for honeymoon injured in hit-and-run crash on I-95

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLA. — A newlywed couple who had just arrived in Florida for their honeymoon was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Volusia County on Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just after 11:30 p.m., troopers said a white Dodge Charger was merging onto southbound I-95 from LPGA Boulevard when it collided with another vehicle.

The collision caused the car that the Charger struck to overturn, troopers said.

The driver of the overturned vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a local hospital.

Troopers said the couple in the overturned vehicle were newlyweds from Tennessee and had just arrived in Florida for their honeymoon.

Officials said the driver of the Charger fled the scene.

Troopers said the Charger sustained heavy left front-end damage.
