Two shot, wounded in Orange County neighborhood

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County Sheriff's investigators said two people were shot in what appears to be a shootout in the middle of a neighborhood.

Investigators said several shots were fired on Corliss Drive in Orange County at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

"We just don't know what the circumstances were behind it," said Jamie Hoffman of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

According to investigators, one victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

They said a second victim is in critical condition and was driven to Health Central Hospital by a family member.

Investigators said the shooting victims were able to provide them with information about the incident.

"Both victims that were shot have already given us statements, and we're trying to establish who all the parties involved here are now," said Hoffman.

Residents of the neighborhood where the shootings occurred told Channel 9's Myrt Price that they hear gunfire frequently, which makes them feel like their neighborhood, is no longer a safe place.

"If I had the money, I would have been gone," one resident said.

Investigators were working at three different scenes Wednesday in an effort to find information.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shootings to please call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477)
