Video shows thieves making off with Brevard family's pricey boat

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Surveillance video shows thieves in the middle of the night, stealing a boat that's worth as much as some homes.

The $150,000 boat was stolen early Tuesday morning from a Brevard County business.

The 30-foot, bright red boat was parked at Bethel Marine Electronics on U.S. Route 1 in Rockledge.

"I hope that they are foolish enough to try and drive around with it because, like I said, it stands out for sure," said the boat's owner, Brian Petrakis.

Petrakis said he dropped it off yesterday to have a new sonar system installed.

The thieves struck around 3 a.m.

Video shows the group pulling up in a pickup truck, cutting the lock and pulling the boat away.

Bethel Marine's Electronics' owner said he's never had a boat stolen from his business. He said he's working closely with deputies to catch the crooks.

Petrakis said he hopes they're caught soon, so he and his family can go back to fishing.

"It was kind of like our hobby, our leisure activity that we all do together. We bring the whole family out and stuff," said Petrakis.

The bright red boat is appropriately named "Bloodline."
