Viewer snaps photos of black bear in Altamonte Springs neighborhood

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — A black bear was spotted in an Altamonte Springs neighborhood over the weekend.

A viewer sent WFTV photos of the bear as it wandered around his backyard on Doris Street.

Last month, Florida Fish and Wildlife said it set out a trap to try to snare a different bear that was seen sitting on the front porch.

One neighbor said he's not interested in getting close to the bear.

"I don't get too close. I keep my distance. I can't run fast anymore," said the neighbor.

Officials said there are about 3,000 black bears throughout the state.

Florida Fish and Wildlife said it's important to keep temptation, such as garbage, away from them.
