• Vigil held for 53-year-old bicyclist killed

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A memorial service was held in Orange County for a bicyclist who was killed by an 18-year-old suspected of being high on synthetic marijuana.

Family and friends of 53-year-old Forrest Flaniken Jr. held a prayer walk outside the Avalon Park YMCA on Monday night in his honor.

Troopers said he was hit and killed by Anthony Moffa along Avalon Park Boulevard on Sunday.

Flaniken's friends said the vigil was a celebration of his life.

"I think it's a wonderful outpouring of Forrest's life and a reflection of his service in the community," said Flaniken's friend Kristie Frieze.

Flaniken was the senior vice president of Wycliffe Bible Translators, a missionary organization that translates bibles around the world.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.
