VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County judge made history after dismissing a murder case under the state’s controversial stand your ground law.
The judge ruled that 76-year-old Earnest Johnson was justified in shooting his 53-year-old stepson because he was simply trying to protect himself.
The two had gotten into an argument last year over a woman.
The law could play a key role in the ongoing case against George Zimmerman in Seminole County.
