Lockdown lifted at 2 New Smyrna Beach schools after report of social media threat

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — Update: Police said the lockdowns at both New Smyrna Beach schools have been lifted.

Two New Smyrna Beach schools are on lockdown Thursday morning after receiving reports of a threat on social media.

Officials said both New Smyrna Beach High School and Middle School are locked down as law enforcement investigates the threat.

Police said the Sheriff’s Office is investigating a “potentially threatening social media post.”

Channel 9 has a crew at the schools to gather additional details.
