Elderly man found dead after shed fire in South Daytona, firefighters say

SOUTH DAYTONA, Fla. — A death investigation is underway after an elderly man was found dead after a fire Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters in South Daytona said they responded to the fire in a shed at around 12:08 p.m. on Reed Canal Road.

After putting out the active fire, crews found a 71-year-old man dead inside of the shed.

The State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate, officials said.

Firefighters said the man’s death does not appear to be foul play.

The cause of the fire and identity of the man was not released by police.
