Happening today: Disaster Assistance Center for Hurricane Ian relief opens in New Smyrna Beach

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A pop-up Disaster Assistance Center for people needing help with Hurricane Ian recovery is open on Monday in New Smyrna Beach.

The one-day-only event will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center, 201 N. Myrtle Ave.

Organizers said U.S. Small Business Administration customer service representatives will be available to answer questions about the disaster loan program and assist business owners and residents to complete their applications or apply for reconsideration. Homeowner associations are also eligible to apply for loans.

Help will only be available for those impacted by Hurricane Ian. Organizers said anyone seeking assistance for damage from Hurricane Nicole can call Volusia County Emergency Management at 386-254-1500 to learn about available resources.
