ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Health care workers vaccinated more than 300 seniors and staff at Ormond in the Pines retirement community on Wednesday.
It’s one of the first assisted living facilities in Central Florida to receive the vaccine.

Most of the people who live in the community have been there since the pandemic began, with limited access to friends and family.
Executive director Michelle Hanner said the facility has managed to avoid any COVID-19 outbreaks. She said they were able to get the vaccine because of their parent company’s strong relationship with CVS.

“We feel very fortunate to stop the pandemic from spreading to be a part of the history of our pandemic,” Hanner said.
CVS will be back in three weeks to give residents their second dose. That will also be a second chance for people who passed up on their first dose this time to get it, if they choose to do so.
