Suspect wanted in Daytona Beach murder considered 'armed and dangerous'

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach police are searching for the gunman they said killed a 49-year-old man Saturday.

Investigators announced Sunday said that they consider Michael Henderson to be armed and dangerous. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for his arrest.

Henderson may be driving a dark Ford Expedition with the Florida tag number 01CFB.

They said he shot Allen Johnson following a fight, possibly over drugs, in the 600 block of Eldorado Street.

Detectives think Johnson, who was found wounded in a red 2016 Nissan Altima, managed to drive himself from Eldorado Street to the 800 block of Magnolia Avenue.

Police said that while Johnson was driving, two men got out of the car and were last seen walking down Lockhart Street.

Johnson was found sitting in the driver’s seat Saturday morning.

He died at the scene.

Investigators did not say if Henderson is one of the men seen getting out of Johnson’s car. Henderson has a criminal records dating back at least four years with charges that include drug possession, sexual battery and possession of a firearm by a felon.
