Deputies: Man shot by resident after breaking into Deltona home thought dinosaurs were chasing him

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman shot a burglar in the arm when he broke into their home, claiming he was being chased by dinosaurs, according to deputies.

Deputies with the Volusia County said a woman shot a burglar who broke into three other homes early Tuesday morning, according to deputies.

Officials said it happened in the 2600 block of Libby Court.

Home surveillance video obtained through the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office showed a man running frantically toward the front of a home in Deltona just before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The sound of the suspect shattering a front window woke the family inside, and the mother grabbed her gun and confronted the man as she made a call to 911, according to deputies.

The woman told dispatchers someone is climbing in her front window, and she was “thinking of shooting them.”
