Warrant issued for Sanford man wanted for questioning about arsons

SANFORD, Fla. — Authorities said a man they believe has information about a string of 11 arsons throughout the city of Sanford will be arrested when he's located.

Investigators said Steven Angle is on the run, and a warrant has been put out for his arrest.

Angle, who investigators said is dangerous, has been arrested 20 times and was set to stand trial for a sexual assault in a little more than a month.

His criminal past is giving law enforcement what they need to take him in for questioning. The warrant was issued for violation of parole stemming from an old burglary case in Georgia.

Stevens' probation officer said he has been unable to get in contact with Stevens in over 72 hours.

"This does give us more teeth," said Kim Cannaday of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. "Prior to this warrant being issued there was a likelihood we could make contact with him but we didn't have the authority to arrest him at that point."

Deputies say Angle's half-brother, Curtis Smith, whom he lived next door to, is responsible for burning down another neighbor's home in Seminole County last week.

Anyone with information to Angle's whereabouts is asked to contact authorities.
