Woman dies after mobile home fire in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Fire officials said a 57-year-old woman has died after she was pulled from a burning mobile home in Osceola County early Saturday morning.

The fire broke out at the woman's mobile home on Elm Avenue around 3 a.m. Firefighters responded after receiving multiple 911 calls from neighbors.

"I heard somebody yelling to get the people awake. I was standing over there and all of a sudden I seen the flames come out of that window right there," neighbor Robert Hazzard said.

Once on scene, firefighters said smoke and flames could be seen coming from the area around an AC unit. Crews were able to rescue the victim, who was trapped inside the burning home, officials said.

The victim, identified as Sallie Mason, 57, was first rushed to St. Cloud Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She was then transferred to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she later died, St. Cloud officials said.

Another neighbor, Sammy Rodriguez, was sad to learn about Mason's death.

"A nice lady, yes, very nice lady," Rodriguez said.

According to investigators, the fire does not appear to be suspicious and was possibly caused by an electrical issue. Officials said they will continue to investigate.
