Police ID woman injured in Parramore-area shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are investigating a shooting that left a woman in serious condition Wednesday.

Police said officers heard shots fired in the area of West Jackson Street and Parramore Avenue around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said they found the Theresa M. Carter, 48, in a parking area near Lime Avenue.  She had been shot once in the back.

Detectives said they are questioning people who were in the area at the time of the shooting.

They said they have determined that it was not a random shooting, but that Carter was targeted. They said they do not know why she was shot.

Police said Carter was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
