2 shot in downtown Orlando parking lot near police department

ORLANDO, Fla. — Two people who were shot in a downtown Orlando parking lot may have been caught in crossfire, authorities said.

The shooting happened at the parking lot under Interstate 4, across the street from the Orlando Police Department near the intersection of Central Boulevard and Garland Avenue.

Sadie de la Cruz was sitting in the back of a car with her friends when she started to scream that she had been shot.

A bullet hole went through the rear passenger door and struck her in the leg, authorities said. She was rushed to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.

Authorities later said a man identified as Masine Milford was also shot and is in critical condition.

Milford said he was shot while walking down the sidewalk near the parking lot. He said he had no idea who shot him or even how he wound up at the hospital.

An officer sitting in front of the police station heard the shots and was on the scene within minutes, police said.

Police said they believe there is more than one shooter, and they're reviewing nearby surveillance footage in an attempt to identify the shooters.

"We know there were two different gun casings found and one gun found," said Sgt. Jim Young.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
