A 75-year-old driver could have hurt several people, as she was driving the wrong way down I-95 in Brevard County and ran into a federal agent's car.
She crashed just north of the Minton Road overpass in the Palm Bay area.
The wrong-way driver, Augustina Brown, said she realized she was going the wrong way, but by then other drivers were braking and swerving to avoid being hit.
Florida Highway Patrol said the situation could have been a lot worse.
Brown was driving a burgundy Mercury Grand Marquis northbound in the southbound lanes of I-95.
After numerous vehicles swerved to missing Brown, she struck a federal agent's Chevy Impala.
"I knew I make a mistake, but that's it," Brown said.
"You're sitting there watching it, and you know something bad's going to happen. You just don't know when," witness Jason Streetman said.
Brown did apologize to the driver she struck.
FHP said charges are pending.
