Zimmerman's estranged wife hurt in crash

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Authorities say George Zimmerman's estranged wife was injured in a central Florida car crash.

Winter Park police report that Shellie Zimmerman was making a left turn at an intersection late Friday morning when another driver ran a red light and hit her. Zimmerman was taken to a nearby hospital after reporting an injury to her foot. Officials say she also suffered minor scrapes from the air bags.

Police spokesman Tom Pearson says the man who crashed into Shellie Zimmerman was taken into custody and faces charges related to driving under the influence. Authorities weren't immediately naming the man.

George Zimmerman was acquitted in July in the shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin. Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce in September.
