• Motorcyclist killed in Volusia County crash


    VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Volusia County Saturday evening.

    The motorcyclist was headed southbound on Woodland Boulevard in DeLand when a Mitsubishi attempted to make a left turn onto Melodie Lane. Troopers said the Mitsubishi turned left directly into the path of the motorcyclist.

    The motorcycle crashed into the right side of the Mitsubishi, which was driven by 50-year-old Helen Gonzalez, according to FHP.

    The motorcyclist, 32-year-old Robert Berry of Holl Hill, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers said Berry was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

    Charges are pending against Gonzalez, FHP said.
