Voters in Florida have rejected Amendment 1.
Power companies pumped in more than $20 million in support of the amendment, which wouuld have allowed them to impose fees on customers who install solar panels.
The power companies said it would have made sure people without solar equipment wouldn't have to pay to hook up the other people's solar panels to the power grid.
Opponents said it would have strongly discouraged residents from even considering solar.
