49 Pulse Crosses to be displayed during Pride Days as 'symbols of condolence & love'

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orange County History Center will waive admission Saturday and Sunday and display 49 crosses honoring the Pulse nightclub victims to celebrate Orlando Pride Days.

Volunteers moved the crosses in July from Orlando Regional Medical Center to the History Center.

Saturday marks five months since the Pulse attack.

After Pride Days, the crosses will be moved back to the History Center's closed preservation site as part of the One Orlando Collection, with other pieces collected from memorials around Orlando.

The One Orlando Collection contains more than 5,000 pieces curated from memorial sites established throughout the region after the Pulse tragedy.

In a news release, Orange County officials said the crosses were created by Artist Greg Zanis, and have become “international symbols of condolence and love, representing each life that was taken.”

Pride events had to be rescheduled because of Hurricane Matthew.
