Officials: Woman said she wanted deputy to shoot her after calling 911

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County deputy shot a woman after she called 911 to report someone breaking into her home Thursday night.

The woman called 911 just after 6 p.m. and said someone was breaking into her home in the Fairwinds Estate subdivision.

"I need help!" she told a 911 operator.

"What is going on? What do you need help for?" the operator replied.

"Somebody's going to try to kill me. I need help please," she said.

However, WFTV found out that Patricia Marianetti was holding what appeared to be a gun when officers arrived at her Eloise Circle home.

Deputy Omar Bello shot Marianetti in the shoulder when she kept pointing the object at deputies, said authorities.

However, it turned out to be a pressure washer wand.

Bello is on paid administrative leave.

Marianetti was taken in for mental health evaluations after telling doctors she wanted deputies to shoot her.
