Sheriff Accused Of Trying To Force Deputy To Quit

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla.,None — Seminole County's sheriff is coming under fire for allegedly trying to force a deputy to quit.

Earlier this month, Sheriff Don Eslinger told Deputy Wendell Bradford he can't stay on the job because he's running to become the sheriff in Volusia County.

But WFTV spoke to the state Division of Elections, and officials there said Bradford did not need to resign.

The sheriff's office said it will follow the state's direction, but hasn't yet reversed Eslinger's call for Bradford's resignation.
