Actor Gary Sinise takes 1,000 Gold Star children to Walt Disney World

Actor Gary Sinise continues to support the members of the military and their families, this time it was through the Snowball Express.

Sinise’s charity, the Gary Sinise Foundation, took more than 1,000 Gold Star children from all over the country, to Walt Disney World.

But before they arrived in Orlando, some of the children were honored by passengers at Nashville's airport, USA Today reported.

Jen Tringale posted video of those waiting in the concourse honoring our country as someone sang the national anthem for the military children who lost a parent in service to the country. Many there were brought to tears.

Another flight from Los Angeles was packed with Gold Star children and Sinise was able to send them off on their journey before meeting them in Florida later in the week.

The Gary Sinise Foundation was created in 2011, Fox News reported.

Last year, the foundation officially welcomed the Snowball Express as part of the charity.

According to the foundation's website, "No matter where these families are in the grieving process, we hope to inspire them to believe anything is possible."

As for this specific trip to Disney, the foundation officials said, "The holidays can be especially challenging for grieving families. Each December, we host a five-day experience for 1,750+ children of the fallen and their surviving parent or guardian. As a therapeutic retreat with a blend of fun and inspiring programs, these families can lean on their peers for support. And this year we're bringing Snowball Express to Walt Disney World Resort."

But the foundation doesn't just focus on the holiday season. It also hosts events for Gold Star families all year long. The foundation takes them to baseball games, camping and gives them educational opportunities to help "build bonds with the only people who can truly understand their loss: each other."
