1 dead, 3 injured after shooting in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — One person was killed and three others were injured after a shooting early Sunday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, authorities said.

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to the downtown area at about 1:30 a.m. EDT after hearing gunshots in the area, the department wrote in a Facebook post. When they arrived, they found the victims, who were all taken to an area hospital.

Shortly after 12 p.m. EDT Sunday, police confirmed that one person had died from a gunshot wound, WMBF-TV reported. One of the wounded victims was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound, and a third person was released from the hospital after treatment for abrasions, according to the television station. The fourth victim was treated for a gunshot wound and released, police said.

The persons involved in the shooting were from the Florence County area, police wrote in their Facebook post.

Police are asking anyone with information, videos or photos to come forward to assist in the investigation.
