5 arrested after 1,000 fentanyl pills, heroin seized in north Alabama drug busts

FLORENCE, Ala. — Authorities in northern Alabama seized more than 1,000 fentanyl pills and more than 20 grams of heroin in two separate drug busts, leading to the arrests of five people.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, authorities arrested Bradley Christopher Gandy, 26, of Florence; Jeffrey Lee Horrison, 31, of Florence; Misty Dawn Davis Horrison, 45, of Florence; and Olivia Synclair Young, 28, of Florence, WHNT-TV reported. Bradley Lenard Burt was also arrested on outstanding warrants, AL.com reported.

On Thursday, agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant for a Florence home, AL.com reported. Authorities said they found more than 1,000 fentanyl pills, 30 grams of cocaine, scales, plastic bags and multiple long assault-type rifles, the news outlet reported.

The sheriff’s office said the task force received a tip on June 21 that Burt was allegedly selling heroin from a Florence hotel, the sheriff’s office said Friday.

Agents obtained a search warrant for Burt’s hotel room. He was later stopped in Colbert County and was arrested on outstanding warrants, AL.com reported. Burt had a small bag of heroin in his possession, agents said.

A search of the hotel room led to the discovery of 20 grams of heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, Gandy was charged with trafficking in illegal drugs (fentanyl), unlawful possession with intent to distribute (cocaine), unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jeffrey Horrison was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Misty Horrison was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Young was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Burt was charged with trafficking in heroin and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
