Bob Odenkirk returns to ‘Better Call Saul’ set after heart attack

Actor and comedian Bob Odenkirk returned Wednesday to the set of AMC’s “Better Call Saul” weeks after collapsing while filming the show.

Odenkirk, who stars in the show’s title role as lawyer Saul Goodman, previously said he had a “small heart attack” while filming the show on July 27. In a post Wednesday on Twitter, he said that he was “back to work on Better Call Saul!”

“So happy to be here and living this specific life surrounded by such good people,” he wrote.

Odenkirk has been portraying Goodman since 2009, when the character first appeared in “Breaking Bad” as the lawyer of high school chemistry teacher-turned drug dealer Walter White, portrayed by Bryan Cranston; and White’s former student Jesse Pinkman, portrayed by Aaron Paul. Odenkirk held the role until the show’s end in 2013.

In 2015, he took up the role again in the Emmy-nominated prequel to “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul.” The show follows Odenkirk’s character as he transforms from an earnest attorney named Jimmy McGill to a greedy lawyer who goes by the name Saul Goodman.

Odenkirk is also known for his work on several other television shows and films, including the 2021 action thriller “Nobody” and the HBO sketch comedy series “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” which ran from 1995 to 1998. He won an Emmy for outstanding individual achievement in writing a variety or music program in 1993 for his work on The Ben Stiller Show. He also won an Emmy in 1989 for his writing on Saturday Night Live.
