Bob Saget tribute to stream on Netflix

The death of Bob Saget on Jan. 9 came as a shock to his friends, family and fans. Saget had died after apparently hitting his head on “something hard, covered by something soft,” The Associated Press reported in March.

On Jan. 30, days after they said goodbye to their friend, entertainers gathered for an “impromptu rock ‘n’ roll shiva” in a small room at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, CNN reported.

The club was where Saget started his stand-up career.

Saget’s friends reminisced, shared stories and even jokes about everyone’s television dad.

Mike Binder, a producer who was friends with Saget and Dave Coulier, came up with the idea. Binder got Jeff Ross and John Stamos as hosts and John Mayer, along with Stamos, was able to get a band together to perform, CNN reported.

Coulier, Ross, Stamos and Mayer were among those who served as pallbearers at Saget’s Jan. 14 funeral.

Binder also set up cameras “just in case” Saget’s fellow stars stopped by.

“I hear these two voices that sound so familiar by the door. I think, ‘That sounds like Chris Rock. That sounds like Jim Carrey.’ I had no idea they were gonna be there,” Stamos told CNN. “And everybody just walked on the stage, and it took off from there.”

Carrey had profound words for Saget. “Bob wasn’t someone who was taken away from us; he was something that was given to us. And one day, when the laughs had hit a certain amount, he just unzipped his human suit and went for a ride.”

The tribute will start streaming on Netflix on Friday, but a trailer was released Thursday. The clip includes profanities and may not be suitable for some viewers.

Along with the above-mentioned stars, the tribute show also includes appearances by Darren Criss, Michael Keaton, Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo and his daughters Lara and Aubrey, AV Club reported.
