McCLELLAN PARK, Calif. — The note, surrounded by shattered glass, on the seat of Michael Baker’s Jeep said it all.

Baker, vice president of the Twin Rivers Unified School District Board of Education, was one of two board members whose property was vandalized last week amid ongoing school disruptions caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic, KTXL reported.
Baker, who has served on the school board since 2012 and has two children of his own in the district, said a neighbor alerted him to a window in his vehicle being “busted out,” and the note was clearly visible among the shards of glass.
He told KTXL that while he understands the frustration felt by parents over pandemic-fueled school closures, the blame seems misplaced.
“The board is not the target,” Baker told the TV station. “Everybody wants to come back, but we need to do it when it’s safe.”
Vandals also targeted the home of fellow board member Bob Bastian on the same night, but damage details in the second incident remain unclear, KTXL reported.
“It’s a road. It’s a pandemic. But for the first time, there’s actually a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. Not a little, but there’s a lot of light at the end of the tunnel. Just be patient. We’ll get there,” Baker told the TV station.
The board will meet March 3 solely to discuss reopening schools.
