A driver stopped in the middle of a road around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, needing help.

The woman in the passenger seat of the car was in labor and just about ready to give birth.

Luckily, Richmond Heights officer Jonathon Ross was on a radar detail and was able to assist.

“I was running radar. It was like 1:30 in the morning so there wasn’t much traffic,” Ross told WKYC. “He gets out of the car and is just frantically waving his hands so I’m like okay something’s up.”

When Ross went to the car, he said the baby’s head and arms were already out, Cleveland.com reported.

But the baby wasn’t moving and wasn’t crying.

“Once I got her to push the baby all the way out, I grabbed the baby and the amniotic sac was over its head, so I pulled it off its head, turned it over like I would do the Heimlich maneuver and started patting its back,” Ross told Cleveland.com.

The baby’s cries were eventually heard and the dashcam video proved he was able to successfully help the woman give birth.

Ross told WJW that he never thought he would help deliver a baby along a road.

He told WKYC he wasn’t trained to deliver a baby and had never done it before.

Paramedics arrived after the delivery and took the baby boy and mom to an area hospital.
