Monday is Columbus Day, and in more than 100 U.S. cities it is also Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
In whatever way you mark the day, it is a federal holiday and that means some closings.
Here’s what will be open and closed Monday.
Banks: Most banks will be closed.
Post offices: The U.S. Postal Service will be closed. There will be no mail delivery.
FedEx, UPS: Both companies will be making deliveries.
Stock Exchange: The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will be operating.
Retailers: Most will be open.
Grocery stores: Most will be open.
Government institutions: Federal offices will be closed Monday, as will most libraries and such agencies as the Department of Motor Vehicles.
