Coronavirus: Michael Strahan tests positive

Hall of Fame football player and “Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan has tested positive for the coronavirus and is quarantining.

“We know you have noticed that Michael has not been here with us this week,” co-host Robin Roberts said Thursday at the start of the show, WABC reported. “He wanted us to let you know that he has tested positive for COVID. He is at home quarantining.”

Strahan, 49, is not experiencing severe symptoms. His dog Enzo is keeping him company, Roberts said.

“So many of you have reached out to him and asked about him and he says, ‘Thank you,’ for the concern and well wishes. He’s also feeling well and looking forward to being back here shortly,” anchor George Stephanopoulos said. “You should know that all of us here — both in front of the camera and behind the scenes — have been cleared by Disney to be here after contact tracing and following CDC guidelines.”

Strahan is also an analyst on the “Fox NFL Sunday” show. He appeared remotely Sunday as he has other times this season, because travel conflicts with his morning show schedule.

Strahan has been on “Good Morning America” since 2016, and part of Fox’s NFL coverage since he retired in 2007 from the New York Giants after helping the team win two Super Bowls. He was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2014.
