BEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Rescuers used a cellphone and iPad to track down a father and daughter whose plane crashed into the woods of northeastern Pennsylvania, according to the Associated Press.
The pair took off from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport before crashing into a wooded area of Luzerne County.
The U.S. Air Force joined Pennsylvania State Police in searching for the two. WNEP reported that pinging the 58-year-old father’s cellphone and 13-year-old daughter’s iPad led search and rescue crews directly to the crash site, where the father and daughter were found huddled together for warmth. The names of the pair, who were suffering from hypothermia when found, have not been released.
The FAA is investigating why the plane crashed.
