According to Sports Illustrated and Variety, Ticketmaster sent a message to Eric Church fans Tuesday saying the “Heart on Fire” singer was calling off his Saturday performance in San Antonio because he plans to watch UNC face Duke in the NCAA basketball tournament.

“This Saturday, my family and I are going to stand together to cheer on the Tar Heels as the team has made it to the Final Four,” Church, 44, wrote in the message. “As a lifelong Carolina basketball fan, I’ve watched Carolina and Duke battle over the years, but to have them match up in the Final Four for the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament is any sports enthusiast’s dream.”

Church went on to call the decision “the most selfish thing” he has ever asked of fans, the news outlets reported.

“However, it’s that same type of passion felt by the people who fill the seats at our concerts that makes us want to be part of a crowd at a game of this significance,” he continued.

Those who purchased a ticket via Ticketmaster will automatically receive a refund, according to the company’s website.
