Park officials said police, firefighters and medics responded “within minutes” to help deal with the flames. Mountain Creek Waterpark was closed when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the blaze.

Officials said that despite the incident, they continue preparations to open the water park to visitors beginning Saturday.

“While we are certainly disappointed that we won’t have High Anxiety available for the foreseeable future, we know that our resilient team is ready to welcome guests back this weekend for our season opening as planned,” Mountain Creek officials said in a statement posted on social media.

The High Anxiety water slide has been an attraction at Mountain Creek for at least 13 years, according to the Herald. Billed as a “one-of-a-kind water slide,” the raft ride propels visitors through a dark tunnel and a 45-degree drop into a funnel, according to park officials.
