Jeremy Beauchamp and his husband, Dale, were sent an unsigned Christmas card by an 85-year-old woman who once lived in their Craftsman-style bungalow house that was built in 1925 when she was an 8-year-old girl, WFTS reported.

She sent the home’s latest residents the letter before Christmas.

“Some of the best years of my life were spent in this house,” the letter read. “I moved there when I was eight years old! I am now eighty-five! Not a Christmas goes by that I don’t go back in my memory of those war years, our gatherings, laughter and tears too, but all in all they were good memories. There are a few of us left, and we talk about those days. Please forgive an old lady at Christmas with her heart still at 9th Street. Enjoy your home — Merry Christmas! ‘I’ll be home for Christmas — if only in my dreams.’”

The couple have lived there for two years.

“Those types of memories — (that’s) what we want to make in our house,” Beauchamp said. “There’s been almost 100 Christmases in this house. That’s a lot of memories.”

They hope to find the writer of the card and have her over for Christmas. After some research, they discovered a family lived in the house that would have had a daughter there during the time period the letter-writer mentioned. They sent a letter to the address where they believe the woman who mailed the card now lives.

“Well eventually, we’d like to get you over here,” Beauchamp said. “Christmas next year would be nice. You know, maybe just let her over and have her see it, because we kind of go all out inside.”
