MAGNOLIA, Texas — A former janitor at a Texas high school is accused of sexually abusing three children over a nine-year period, according to court documents.
Jeffrey Hitchcock, 62, of Magnolia, was arrested July 28 and charged with sexual abuse of a child continuously, a first-degree felony, according to Montgomery County online booking records.
The allegations against Hitchcock, who was employed at Magnolia West High School in the Magnolia Independent School District until 2013, are not connected to the school, KPRC-TV reported.
During the time when the three children were allegedly abused, the suspect resigned from his custodial position due to an internal investigation regarding inappropriate contact with a student. https://t.co/sku2UuUGvL— ABC13 Houston (@abc13houston) August 5, 2022
According to court documents, the alleged abuse began in 2005 when all three siblings were younger than 5 years old, according to the television station. The alleged abuse continued until 2014. When the report was filed with authorities in 2018, two of the children were 16 and the other was 15, KTRK-TV reported.
In 2018, one of the children allegedly told a classmate that Hitchcock and another man committed the abuse.
Officials said Hitchcock, his wife and brother lived in a trailer in Magnolia with the children, KTRK reported.
According to the charging documents, Hitchcock and his brother would give the girls beer and Cheetos and then sexually abuse them, the television station reported.
Hitchcock and his wife divorced in 2014 and the children moved out of the trailer.
Investigators said one of the children had an intellectual disability and functioned at a 6-year-old’s level, KTRK reported. One of the alleged victims told authorities that Hitchcock abused the child because they were “less likely to ever say anything.”
According to court documents, Hitchcock resigned from his custodial job at Magnolia West High School after an internal investigation determined he had made inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old female student, KPRC reported.
It is unclear whether Hitchcock was related to the victims.
He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail, with bail set at $150,000, online records show.
