Georgia DB Javon Bullard arrested on DUI charge

University of Georgia defensive back Javon Bullard is facing a DUI charge and six other misdemeanors, authorities said Sunday.

Bullard, a sophomore from Milledgeville who is playing his second season with the top-ranked Bulldogs (4-0), was arrested by Georgia campus police Sunday morning, ESPN reported.

The driving under the influence of alcohol charge was for under 21 years of age, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

According to Clarke County Jail online booking records, Bullard was also charged with failure to maintain lane/improper driving; improper turning, a headlights violation; furnishing, purchasing and possession of alcoholic beverages by persons under 21; not carrying and exhibiting a license on demand; and holding/supporting a mobile device with his body.

Bullard has seven tackles and a pass breakup this season while starting all four of the Bulldogs’ games, the Banner-Herald reported. He made three tackles in the Bulldogs’ 39-22 victory against Kent State on Saturday, according to the newspaper.

He was booked into jail at 4:57 a.m. EDT and released on $4,250 bail at 8:30 a.m., the Banner-Herald reported.

Georgia athletics did not respond immediately for a request for comment, according to the newspaper.
