The Georgia Bureau of Investigations said in a news release that the remains recovered in Aug. 2020 have been identified as Crystal Hendrix.

Hendrix was eight months pregnant when she was last seen at the Tifton Women’s Clinic for a checkup on March 8, 2013, according to WFXL. She was reported missing by her staff at her children’s school, not her family, a little over a month later on April 25, 2013.

On Aug. 19, 2020, officials received a tip about possible human remains on Urbana Road in Omega which was the same road where Hendrix lived at the time of her disappearance, WGXA reported.

Tift County Deputies and the GBI recovered the human remains together and sent them off to the GBI crime lab in Macon, according to WGXA. In Oct. 2022, the FBI and GBI tested for DNA, comparing it to her mother’s to identify the remains as Hendrix on Friday.

Now that Hendrix has been identified, investigators say they are focusing on her death investigation.
