According to WDSU, St. Tammany Fire District One personnel responded to the house fire in Slidell’s Ozone Woods community at around 6:30 a.m. local time Sunday.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, 37-year-old Brandy Juan set the fire after arguing with her mother, WWL-TV reported.

While Juan’s mother was unharmed, the infant suffered minor burns, the TV station reported.

Juan has been charged with two counts of aggravated arson, one count of child desertion and one count of cruelty to a child, WWL-TV reported.

“Thank you to the personnel with Fire District 1 who not only quickly extinguished this blaze but also worked with our detectives to determine the individual responsible,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said in a prepared statement, noting that “this could have turned out much worse.”
