LOS ANGELES — The man who provided fentanyl-laced pills to Mac Miller’s dealer was sentenced Monday to more than 17 years in prison.
Last year, Stephen Walter, 49, pleaded guilty to a federal count of distribution of fentanyl, according to KABC. The sentence for that is 20 years in prison. Under a plea deal, Water would get a 17-year prison sentence, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office that KABC received.
Walter is one of three people being charged for Miller’s accidental overdose. Miller died in 2018 of a drug overdose that investigators later learned was a deadly mixture of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol.
Two others being charged include Ryan Reavis, 39, who pleaded guilty to distribution and has been sentenced to 11 years in prison. The other is Cameron Petit, 30, for whom charges are still pending, according to KABC.
KCBS says prosecutors believe that Walter, Reavis and Petit are the three men who distributed the drugs to Miller two days before his overdose. In court records obtained by KCBS, the pills started with Walter, went to Reavis who gave the “counterfeit oxycodone pills” to Petit, who then sold them to Miller.
Walter, according to KABC, apologized to Miller’s family at his sentencing saying that his “actions caused a lot of pain.”
